Nishiki Market

"Kyoto's kitchen" — five narrow blocks of tsukemono, tofu doughnuts, tamagoyaki, and knife shops. Graze as you go; most stalls close by 5pm. Aritsugu knives at the east end is a pilgrimage of its own.

Where to eat and graze. Kyoto is kaiseki country, but the market snacks and tea houses matter just as much.
